You have decided to go for dedicated hosting, but have no idea what company is worth working with? The number of providers is huge, how to decide then? Find out what the warning signs of hosting are, and which offers are suspicious.

Long-Term Contracts

Some companies offer great discount for long-term contracts (means contracts that last a year, two or even four). It sounds too good to be true. Why? In most cases, contracts appear to be more beneficial for the provider rather than the client.

If your website is a quickly developing project, a year is too much – a lot can change. What if one day you realize that existing resources are not enough, or simply become discontent with the quality of hosting? If you cancel the contract, the provider may either penalize you, or just refuse to compensate for unused months of service. You can lose a lot of money with such contracts.

Bargain Hosting Offers

If the prices is less than average, it is suspicious. Yes, all of us want to save on hosting, but the price of service should not just cover itself. If hosting is too cheap, a provider either provides poor customer support, or its servers are constantly overloaded.

Unlimited Hosting Plans

Actually, there is no such thing as unlimited hosting – every company has its limits, be that physical properties of servers and bandwidth. You should know that sometimes companies with unlimited hosting plans tend to disconnect accounts when they want.

Support Agents You Cannot Contact

If a provider has one connection mean, and you can’t get in touch, or wait too long for answers, it is a bad sign. That means that you won’t be able to get help immediately in case of issues and emergencies.

Usage of Another Host

If a company itself allocates its website on another hosts’ facilities, it is strange (if this is not a reseller, though). Such provider does not trust its own infrastructure, so you shouldn’t, as well.
